DAY CARE FOR PEOPLE WITH DEMENTIA

Year: 2021

Location: Sződliget, Hungary

Architects: Mario Monclús, Perényi Tamás, Andrei Durloi, Perényi Flóra

On the banks of the Danube River a daycare centre for elderly people with dementia is planned to be built. The new pavilion will be a part of the Kék Duna residential complex for the elderly.

A U-shaped pavilion with a very simple portico structure is designed. The roof, fragmented in two volumes inclined towards the inner courtyard, rests on top of the porticated structure. This roof brings light into the private and resting spaces while at the same time houses the more pragmatic technical elements. The common spaces are completely open-plan to help the task of the nurses and are open on their façades, following the directionality of the structure. These transparencies provoke a sense of a covered space in the middle of the garden and propitiate crossed visuals through the building.
