In recent years, Hungary has also begun a process that has led to the gradual replacement of large residential institutions for people with disabilities by small, socially integrated institutions. Decentralization eliminates impersonality, standardized treatment, diminishes the sense of difference, exclusion and increases the importance of the private sphere. The aim was to develop types of dwellings that are similar in every respect to those of ordinary dwellings: they are situated on a medium-sized plot, and in their shape and architectural design, they fit into their surroundings.
As part of the program, 6 family houses and a central service building will be built in Esztergom. There is also a housing unit like the other family houses connected to the latter.
